Hokey Pokey Week 5

For week 4-5 maths we made up business plans for selling hokey pokey to the rest of the school. In small groups we made a document that we could all go on to show each other our own ideas for the main business plan. On the document we put the ingredients that we were going to need to buy to make the hokey pokey. Then we searched the Internet to find the cheapest ingredients so that we could maximize our profits. After we had bought the ingredients we were up to the next step - making the hokey pokey! We borrowed some portable gas cookers from the food technology block and set them up in our classroom.

Then we got to it!

We chose some people to be our cooks and make the hokey pokey. They were:
Phoebe, Talia, Samantha, Jaxon, Joel and Bryce.
They melted sugar, golden syrup and baking soda in a saucepan for 5-6 minutes. it went all fizzy and swelled up like lava!
Then they poured it out on to a oven tray with baking paper and left it to rest until hard.
When it was hard they handed it over to the wrappers who wrapped
the hokey pokey with sheets of clear cellophane and a ribbon round the top.

Then it was ready to sell!!

We set up a hokey pokey stall at morning tea on Wednesday the 1st of June...
and we sold out instantly!!!!

I want to thank miss Paterson for organizing it all.
Thanks!!
